See How One Credit Union Offers On-Demand Service with Digital Signatures

Read this case study to see how a Texas credit union uses digital signatures to bring services to members' doorsteps

Alamo Federal Credit Union has combined technology with face-to-face member relations to create Concierge Banking. With this service, a credit union employee meets members at their home, office or any convenient location to discuss the credit union’s products. Members can apply for a loan on the spot using an iPad and SIGNiX digital signatures.

Paperwork Frustrates Members

Like many credit union loan managers, Alicia Alvarez is focused on more than just closing loans. You might even say closing loans is just a byproduct of what Alicia focuses on every day—customer service. She knows that there are plenty of places members can get a loan. To win business, Alicia’s team gives members quality customer service they can’t get anywhere else.

Despite the team’s best efforts, one step of the loan application process frustrated members and employees alike—the signature. Busy members and those living out of town often had trouble making the time to come into a branch and sign loan documents.

“We lost loans that could have been easily closed if we had SIGNiX’s digital signature service sooner,” Alicia said. “We tried faxing paperwork over to them and having them fax signed documents back to us, but the process was still exasperating.”

Even when documents were signed in person, the process was far from perfect. Employees regularly spent at least 20 minutes going over each document to make sure each field was properly filled out and signed.

Digital Signatures Delight Members

That’s why Alicia was so excited when she heard about SIGNiX’s digital signature technology in 2012. With digital signatures, members could get documents signed online in minutes from any computer. Alicia wanted to make sure that any new technology Alamo FCU adopted would not only be easy to use but would also protect the security of members’ personal information. That’s why she chose SIGNiX.

“We picked SIGNiX because of the level of security and tamper protection their technology offers,” Alicia said. “We were also impressed that they were endorsed by the Texas Credit Union League.”

It didn’t take long for Alamo FCU’s lending team to start getting positive feedback about the switch to digital signatures. Adoption grew quickly, with Alamo FCU’s number of digitally signed documents more than doubling year-over-year.

“Members love it because it’s convenient and very simple to use,” Alicia said. “It allows them to sign virtually anywhere.”

Bringing Service to Members’ Doorsteps

Alamo FCU decided to combine digital signature technology with face-to-face customer service through something they call Concierge Banking.

With this service, members don’t have to come into a branch to apply for a loan or open a new account. Instead, one of Alamo FCU’s Concierge Bankers can meet them at their home, office, or any convenient location in the San Antonio area to talk about the credit union’s products.

“We take a specialized iPad with us, and members can use SIGNiX’s finger signing technology to sign loan documents on the spot,” Alvarez said.

Members can go online to schedule an appointment, and an employee will drive to meet members using the Alamobile—an SUV wrapped in Alamo FCU’s branding and the words “Concierge Banking.”

The program perfectly combines the latest innovations in technology with Alamo FCU’s mission to provide the best in personal service. With SIGNiX, Alamo FCU is delighting existing members and attracting new members like never before.

“This is something our members have been wanting for a long time—a way to close loans without spending hours in a bank waiting on someone,” Alicia said. “With Alamo FCU, you don’t wait on us, we wait on you.”
