Vibe. Widget. Nymeo. These aren’t the names of some new tech products, they’re actually the names of credit unions. They’re among the ten credit union name changes featured in a recent article by The Financial Brand. Here are some of the most unique changes.

Vibe Credit Union

Former Name: Telcom Credit Union

Rationale: “Vibe represents a new energy within our credit union and the opportunity to build our membership base by reaching all age groups.”

Widget Financial

Former Name: Erie General Electric FCU

Rationale: “Widget” was chosen because it is a familiar term in a variety of industries including technology, manufacturing, healthcare and education.

Nymeo FCU

Former Name: Comstar FCU

Rationale: The credit union said Nymeo is an anagram of the word “money.” The organization will promote its products and services as a new way to look at money.
