Washington State bill would let credit unions pay board members

Legislation is up for review in Washington State that would let state-chartered credit unions pay their board members. The legislation, partly written by the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA), would also let credit unions compensate supervisory committee members.

The NWCUA has researched the option to pay board members since 2009, but some in the credit union industry are resistant to changing the tradition of having board members serve on a volunteer basis. Click here to read more.
